Psyop, short for psychological operations, are military operations carried out to influence the emotions and behaviors of targeted individuals, organizations and governments. Conspiracy theorists have co-opted the term to suggest that various conspiracy theories and world events are fomented by the government and global elites to distract "truth seekers" and sow confusion.
