Alt lite

The alt lite was a loosely connected movement that emerged around 2016, consisting of right-wing activists who rejected the overtly white supremacist ideology of the alt right, but whose hateful impact was more significant than their 'lite' name suggested. The alt lite embraced misogyny, bigotry and xenophobia as well as a hatred for the left while hiding behind the optic of civic nationalism. Today, majority of the once alt lite leaders and activists are increasingly more explicit in their bigotry and the term "alt lite" is largely viewed as defunct.
