Abu Sayyaf Group/ISIS Philippines

The Abu Sayyaf Group (ISIS Philippines), also referred to as ISIS East Asia, is a conglomeration of smaller Filipino Islamist groups which pledged allegiance to ISIS starting in 2014. The groups have attracted Western fighters, including from the United States, especially after ISIS Philippines seized parts of the city of Marawi in Mindanao Province, Philippines in June 2017. Though ISIS's control of the city was eliminated after just a few months, the Marawi siege served as a disturbing example of the organization's ability to export its governance model to affiliated groups.
