Payton Gendron

Payton Gendron is the accused gunman in the Buffalo, NY shooting on May 14, 2022. According to police, Gendron went to a Tops supermarket armed with an AR-15, tactical gear and a body camera to livestream the shooting. Ten people were killed, three were injured. Before the shooting, Gendron allegedly posted a hate-filled screed giving his reasons for the attack. In it, he says he chose that particular supermarket and zip code because he believed a high percentage of Black people live there. He also believed in the antisemitic Great Replacement conspiracy theory, and said he was radicalized by the Christchurch mosque shooter Brenton Tarrant. Gendron has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.
