Michael Brian Vanderboegh

Michael Brian Vanderboegh, commonly known as Mike Vanderboegh, was a long-time Alabama-based militia activist anti-government extremist. In the mid-1990s, Vanderboegh claimed to be commander of an Alabama militia group, the First Alabama Cavalry Regiment, though he appeared to be its sole member. He briefly was involved with the anti-immigrant Minutemen in the mid-2000s. However, Vanderboegh gained widespread attention in 2008, when he created the Three Percenters concept on his blog, the Sipsey Street Irregulars, which helped popularize and expand the militia movement. Vanderboegh died in 2016.
