Elijah Muhammad was the former leader of the Nation of Islam (NOI) from the 1930s until his death in 1975. Muhammad promoted the idea that white people were created by an evil Black scientist and that Black people are the superior race. Muhammad and his teachings continue to be revered by NOI members today.
