Anti-government extremism

The term "anti-government extremism" refers to a specific set of right-wing extremist movements and groups that emerged beginning in the 1960s and that share a conviction that part or all of the U.S. government is not legitimate. Collectively, these movements and groups are often referred to as the "Patriot" movement.
