Sharia is the term for Islamic religious law based on the Quran and hadiths. The term has become a catch-all phrase used by anti-Muslim bigots to stoke fear about the so-called Islamization of America, claiming that Sharia is infiltrating the U.S. judicial system and that Muslims want to replace American laws with Sharia law.
