Okay Hand Gesture (Symbol)
In 2017, a 4chan trolling campaign falsely claimed that the okay hand gesture had been appropriated by white supremacists as a symbol meaning "white power." The campaign succeeded in convincing many people that it was, leading to its use by many on the right — not just extremists — for the purpose of trolling liberals. Because of the attention, the symbol eventually came to be used by some actual white supremacists as well. Caution must be used in evaluating instances of this symbol's use, as most use of this symbol is not, in fact, white supremacist in nature.
