Domestic extremism

Domestic extremism refers to extremist movements, groups, networks and individuals originating in the United States (as opposed to operating in the U.S. at the behest of foreign extremist organizations), as well as criminal or violent acts they may commit. In the United States, there are a variety of right-wing, left-wing, religious, and other forms of domestic extremism, although most extremist violence in recent decades has come from various types of right-wing extremists.

This database provides an overview of many of the terms and individuals used by or associated with movements and groups that subscribe to and/or promote extremist or hateful ideologies.
