Charleston church massacre
The Charleston church massacre refers to the 2015 shooting at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. White supremacist Dylann Roof, joined a prayer group meeting and opened fire, murdering nine parishioners and injuring one in the historic black church. Roof, who had written a racist and anti-Semitic manifesto prior to carrying out the attack, was found guilty of 33 federal charges and sentenced to death in 2016.
