11 Ways to Keep Current on Anti-Bias Education This Summer

For educators, summer can be a time for reflection, relaxation and rejuvenation. The summer also provides the time and space to learn something new, read articles and review curricula that you haven’t had time to do during the school year and to connect with other educators without the pressure of time. Below are 11 ways for educators, and others who work with young people, to take advantage of new resources and brush up on their anti-bias education practices.

  1. Consider how to navigate conversations with young children about diversity, prejudice and bullying with our Early Childhood FAQs.
  2. Visit our Lesson Plans collection and consider approaches to bring current events into your K-12 classroom.
  3. Review our Monthly Featured Book teacher and family discussion guides and peruse Books Matter to find excellent children’s books with anti-bias and bullying prevention themes.
  4. Engage in a short self-guided virtual learning experience on anti-bias education--there are several to choose from.
  5. Reflect on your anti-bias education practices with our educator resources including “A Guide to Responding to School Sports-Related Bias Incidents” “When 'Just Joking' is No Joke,” “When it Comes to Bias, We Must Prioritize Impact over Intent” and more.
  6. Read our blogs on a variety of education topics, and discuss them with a friend or colleague.

  9.
